Welcome to my website! I am currently a third year graduate student at Rice University, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. I hope you continue to visit my website as I continue to update it.

Research Interests
My area of emphasis is systems/signal processing and I work in the DSP group, under Dr. Richard Baraniuk. Traditionally, digital signal processing meant first observing a signal, then processing it in some way that enhances it and/or prepares it for being stored or transmitted. Right now I am researching a new thoery--Compressed Sensing--that combines both of these tasks in one step:

Given a signal that is "sparse" in some basis (it can be represented as a combination of few functions from some larger set of functions), one takes a number of observations of it. What's surprising is that these observations can be random projections (you multiply the values of the signal by random numbers and add them up), and that only a small number of these measurements are needed to reconstruct the signal perfectly.
