About Me

I am a PhD student in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas. My research interests include statistical signal processing and information theory. I am currently working with my advisor, Dr. Don H. Johnson, on theoretical issues pertaining to distributed information processing, as well as several topics in computational neuroscience. For more information, please check out my research page or see my publications list.

I am originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and I completed my B.E.Sc. in ECE/Wireless Communications at The University of Western Ontario with Dr. Serguei L. Primak.

Like my Southpark character, I have been a guitarist for the past 14 years. I studied with several great teachers including classical guitarist Eli Kassner and jazz guitarist Rob Campbell. I have played with Jazz and Rock bands in the Toronto and Houston areas.

My current group, Buffalo Speedway, is well-known (to us) in the Houston indie music scene, and is working on its second (imaginary) album. I also (pretend to) play benefit concerts with my side project, the all-star band Marco's Freedom.
