Not-So-Secret Secrets of Successful Entrepreneurship

Dr. Chang will share his experience and insights in starting and managing high-tech companies. He will describe the current startup environment and describe a low-risk model that most technical people can use to get started. He will also suggest ways engineers can prepare themselves to become entrepreneurs. The speaker will leave ample time for questions from the audience.

* Biography:

Milton Chang is Chairman of New Focus, Arcturus Engineers, and OEpic, and has recently formed iNCUBiC to nurture entrepreneurs. He earned a B.S. degree with Highest Honors from the University of Illinois, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the California Institute of Technology, all in Electrical Engineering. He was President/CEO of Newport and New Focus, and has started a dozen companies without a single failure. Dr. Chang currently sits on the board of directors of Agility Communications, Gadzoox Networks, Lightwave Electronics, OpVista, and YesVideo. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America, President-Elect of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, and writes monthly business columns for Laser Focus World and Photonics Spectra magazines.
