 Rice alum wins 2017 IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award in Wireless Communications

2017.05.RajagopalCongratulations to Sridhar Rajagopal '04, Ph.D. graduate of Electrical and Computer Engineering and scientist at Samsung Research America, on winning the 2017 IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award in Wireless Communications! Rajagopal, along with co-authors Omar El Ayach of Qualcomm, Shadi Abu-Surra and Zhouyue Pi of Samsung Research America, and Robert Heath of the University of Texas at Austin, won for their paper, "Spatially Sparse Precoding in Millimeter Wave MIMO Systems."

The IEEE Guglielmo Marconi Best Paper Award is an annual award, sponsored by Qualcomm Inc., for an original paper in the field of Wireless Communications published in the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications. A $1,000 honorarium is awarded, along with a plaque and travel reimbursement to receive the award, which is presented by the IEEE Communications Society Awards Committee Chair at the International Conference on Communications. The 2017 conference is being held May 21-25 in Paris.
