Abstract:
Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) are engineered synergies between computational components and devices or sensors. There is intense interest in CPS in the health care space. Much of the work is characterized by force-fitting an engineering solution into a clinical problem. An alternative (and possibly better) strategy is developing the CPS from a deep understanding of the interplay of physiology and disease. Advances in cellular and molecular biology lead the way.

Clifford Dacso
Clifford Dacso, MD, MPH, MBA is Professor of Molecular & Cellular Biology
and Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He is Adjunct Professor of ECE
at Rice and Cullen University Professor at University of Houston. His
clinical practice is in general internal medicine and geriatrics. His
research interests range from nosology to device design and
implementation. He most recently has inaugurated a program to develop an
integrated OMICS platform for application on the International Space
Station - National Lab.
