Typical Schedule

Full-time students:
The Master of Electrical Engineering Program is intended for full time study.  A full-time student is registered for nine or more semester hours. Students with a non-electrical engineering background or with gaps in preparation may require one or two extra semesters to reach the required level of achievement.

Meeting with an assigned Graduate Committee advisor, the student will work out a coherent program which must be approved and signed by that advisor.  The proposed course schedule will consist of:
  1. At least 30 hours, comprising 10 advanced courses (numbered 300 or higher).
  2. 18 hours must be in or associated with a major area of concentration.
  3. 6 hours must be in or associated with a second minor area.
  4. The remaining hours are free electives.
  5. 12 hours must be technical courses at the 500 or 600 level and indicate an advanced level of accomplishment in the major area.
  6. None of the courses counting toward the 30 required hours may be pass/fail.
Part-time students:
Part-time M.E.E. students must complete the same application process as the full-time students.
  1. A part-time student must be enrolled for a minimum of three semester hours of course work, independent study or research each semester.
  2. Each student will work toward their degree in accordance with an M.E.E. Program approved by a Graduate Committee advisor.

M.E.E. degree plans are due to the Graduate Program Coordinator by the second Friday after the start of Fall classes.
