ECE Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Networking

    Edward Knightly
    Suggested projects:

    • High-performance wireless networking in under-resourced environments.
The Rice Networks Group and the non-profit organization Technology For All have deployed a state-of-the-art multi-hop wireless network in one of Houston's most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Multiple undergraduate research projects are available in experimental wireless networking, using both a programmable wifi platform as well as a custom FPGA-based platform http://warp.rice.edu. See http://tfa.rice.edu for more about the TFA network and http://www.ece.rice.edu/~knightly/438 for examples of past course projects. Past undergraduate projects have resulted in publications. One team won an award for their project and presented their research paper at an international research meeting in Rome, Italy.
