	Technology Transfer at Rice
	The role of the Office of Technology Transfer is to commercialize Rice University research. We are responsible for our research reaching the commercial sector so we interface with industry in several ways: we patent and license technologies, we for start up companies, and we negotiate intellectual property terms in industry sponsored research. This presentation will elaborate on the goals of the office, our role for our faculty members, and describe some of the commercialization activity here at Rice.

	* Biography: Nila Bhakuni is currently the Director of Technology Transfer at Rice University where she has been since February of this year. She has held positions in Technology Transfer at Harvard University and Carnegie Mellon University and spent 10 years at Alcoa's Technical Center in various aspects of product design, development, and manufacturing. Nila has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University, and an MSIA (MBA) from Carnegie Mellon University's Graduate School of Industrial Administration.
