Innovative International Programs for Engineers | |||
Due to rapid globalization in the world economy, science and engineering
disciplines are increasingly international. This fact, coupled with the
declining numbers of engineering students in the U.S., brings about a
pressing need for U.S. universities to develop novel and holistic curricula
to prepare a new generation of internationally savvy scientists and engineers
who understand the realities of globalization and can compete effectively in
this new marketplace. This session will describe some of Rice and IAESTE
United States' current and planned short- and long-term international
programs that are specifically targeted at engineering and science students.
In addition to the benefits to the students, this session will also detail
the advantages for companies that participate and collaborate in the
development of such programs.
