The work of Ed Knightly, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and his graduate student, Joe Camp, helped Hurricane Katrina evacuees find loved ones in the aftermath of the storm. Now that technology has been added to the Wi-Fi standard, making wireless broadband networks more effective and cheaper to deploy.
