______________________ In April 2000 the Rice Laser Science Group in collaboration with the geography group from the University of Cambridge, UK has successfully conducted a gas emission measurement campaign at the Masaya volcano located about 30 miles south of Managua, Nicaragua. Two mid-IR diode laser based gas sensors developed by the Rice-LSG were deployed along with a commercial FTIR spectrometer operated by the Cambridge team.

The scientific results of this campaign have been submitted for presentation at the OSA Annual Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island, October, 2000.

Below are some selected snapshots taken during this campaign.
