TI awards $2,000 to engineering students for analog design innovation (May 2010)

Sharing their expertise on a cross-disciplinary team, ECE students brought their “A” game to the Texas Instruments 2010 Analog Design Contest and won a total of $2,000.00.   The contest challenges students from 26 universities throughout the United States to demonstrate the high level of engineering analysis, originality, quality and creativity in designs featuring TI analog integrated circuits.

Ben Bahorich (Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science), John Cate (Department of Computational & Applied Mathematics), and Robert LiKamWa (Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering) won the $1,500.00 first place prize, for their project on the 3D Modeling Turntable.

Ashley Hill (Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science), Laura Liem (Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science), and Jon Stanley (Electrical & Computer Engineering) won the second place $500.00 prize, for their project on a Video Trolley for Gait Analysis.

Plus, by winning this contest, each team is automatically qualified for a nation-wide contest and the Engibous Prize in July. The will compete for first, second and third place prizes of $10,000, $7,500, and $5,000.

The prize money is fantastic, and the experience is priceless. ECE proudly congratulates team members for their dedication and display of talent. A special thank is extended to Syd Coppersmith, Analog University Program Manager at Texas Instruments for helping our students “bring their ideas to life”.
