Aazhang Selected for IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecture Tours

The IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer Committee has selected Rice University’s Dr. Behnaam Aazhang as Distinguished Lecturer. 

Aazhang is the J.S. Abercrombie Professor and Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Director of the Center for Multimedia Communication. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a recipient of 2004 IEEE Communication Society's Stephen O. Rice best paper award for a paper with A. Sendonaris and E. Erkip.

Currently, he serves on the Houston Mayor's Commission on Cellular Towers and as the chair of the Technical Program Committee for 2005 Asilomar Conference, Monterey, CA. He has served as the Editor for Spread Spectrum Networks of IEEE Transactions on Communications, as the Treasurer of IEEE Information Theory Society, the Secretary of the Information Theory Society, the Publications Chairman of the 1993 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, San Antonio, Texas, and as the co-chair of the Technical Program Committee of the 2001 Multi-Dimensional and Mobile Communication (MDMC) Conference in Pori, Finland.

Aazhang’s lecture topics will include:

  • Multi-user communication
  • Multiple access communication
  • Spectrum sharing in wireless communication
  • Cooperative communication
  • Scheduling in wireless communication
  • Feedback in wireless communication
