In October 2004, Richard Baraniuk was appointed ECE's first Victor E. Cameron Chair in Engineering.
ECE Alum Dr. Chaitali Sengupta (MS'95, PhD'99) has been named to the 2004 list of the 100 Top Young Innovators by Technology Review for her innovative contributions to the field of wireless (3G) modem implementation. Dr. Sengupta is currently a senior member of the technical staff at Texas Instruments. (September 2004)
Rebekah Drezek, Assistant Professor in Bioengineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering has been named to the 2004 list of the 100 Top Young Innovators by Technology Review for her cutting-edge research in nanotechnology, biophotonics. (September 2004)
