BRIEF BIO

Professor Sabharwal is chair of the ECE Corporate Affiliates program and past director of the Center for Multimedia Communication (CMC). He has been faculty fellow and postdoctoral research associate at Rice University. Throughout the his years at Rice, he has been involved in several large research projects focused on wireless networking and supported by funding from NSF, Nokia, Texas Instruments and Intel Corporation. Dr. Sabharwal received his B.Tech in 1993 from IIT - New Delhi, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1995 and 1999, respectively.

Sabharwal’s research spans the whole spectrum of fundamental theoretical foundations surrounding the design of novel wireless networks including information theory, multiple antenna systems, coding and computation. He is co-PI and founder of the Wireless Open-Access Research Platform (WARP), an open-source collaborative effort to prototype novel wireless network concepts on a single platform.

A senior member of the IEEE his professional achievements include associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications since 2006, chair of the technical programs for the MOBICOM Wireless Network Testbeds workshop in 2008 (WiNTECH) and chair of the Wireless Personal Communication Systems IEEE Vehicular Technology conference in 2005.
