Welcome to the Mittleman group home page, in the ECE Department at Rice University. Our research interests are two-fold. Some of our work involves the generation and detection of single-cycle pulses of far-infrared radiation, which is accomplished with ultrafast laser pulses. This field, a subset of what is commonly known as ultrafast optoelectronics, is interesting because these far-IR (or terahertz) pulses access a range of the electromagnetic spectrum which is relatively unexplored.
