1.     Problem 10-8 (Cheng):  Parallel plates

2.     Problem 10-10 (Cheng):  Parallel plates

3.     Traveling waves from various radio and radar transmitters can interfere with electronic devices such as digital computers.  Manufacturers of these devices intentionally subject their products to these waves to determine whether they will be susceptible to these potential interferers.  In order to simulate this, one places the product between two parallel plates that are excited like a transmission line.  This device is called a parallel-plate simulator.  It is desired that only the TEM mode exist between these plates in order to simulate the plane wave source.  The plates must be separated sufficiently to accommodate the product but at the same time having the higher-order modes cutoff.  Suppose the plates are separated by 0.75m in order to accommodate small digital computers for testing.  Determine the highest usable frequency of this simulator.
