ELEC 493/494
Grading

Your Senior Design grade is intended to reflect three things: the quality of your design, your skill as a designer, and your ability to communicate your ideas. Design quality will be evaluated by the project's faculty advisor. All other criteria will be evaluated by the 493/494 instructor, based on your design documentation package.

Due Dates. Although your design documentation package will ultimately form a single coherent document, it has been organized into a number of separate chapters, each with its own due date. This is intended to encourage you to proceed at an even pace, and to provide feedback as you proceed through the design process. Your grade for each semester will be based on the aggregate grade of the chapters submitted that semester. Unless otherwise indicated, each chapter is due at 5 PM on Friday of the week indicated in the schedule. A chapter submitted after its due date will incur a 10% penalty for each week or fraction thereof that it is late.

Evaluation. Each chapter will be evaluated based on a set of criteria appropriate to that chapter. The forms which will be used in this evaluation are shown in the following links:

  1. Chapter 1
  2. Chapter 2
  3. Chapter 3
  4. Chapter 4
  5. Chapter 5
  6. Chapter 6

Revisions. At the end of each semester you should submit a complete documentation package consisting of revised versions of all chapters completed so far. If the revisions satisfactorily address concerns raised in the original evaluation, your grade for that chapter will be the average of the original grade and the new grade.
