Welcome to my home page. This page contains details on some of my personal interests. For more details of my research, look at my research page.

I did my undergraduate degree at IIT Madras. IIT Madras is one of most beautiful college campuses I have been to. I have been the secretary of the IIT Madras alumni association from 1995. IITMAANA (the IIT Madras Alumni Association of North America) is currently involved in a whole bunch of exciting new activities. Check the web site (www.iitmaana.org) for more details. I helped design the web site; so if you have any comments, send me email too at contact@iitmalumni.org.

I am from the south Indian city of Chennai (formerly called Madras). India is a beautiful place to visit and has a whole bunch of things unique to its culture. If the name of India evokes only images of eastern mysticism and cultural diversity, go to the IBTC site to learn about some of the recent developments in the business and technology sector. IBTC stands for the India Business and Technology Consortium and was an organization we helped start at Rice to learn about recent business and technology developments in India.

Talking of Indian associations at Rice, I also helped form another organization at Rice targeted at enriching the educational experience of children in financially-challenged parts of the world. Our activities so far have mainly targeted places in the Indian subcontinent. We currently have projects that help ship computers that are obsolete in the U.S. to several schools near Bombay and Madras (now Mumbai and Chennai) where they are used both for computer education and to address the high drop-out rate from primary schools. Do check out our web page and let us know if you have any comments/suggestions!

During the rest of my copious free time, I like to go jogging (my goal is to run a marathon some day!), play badminton, and assemble 3D jigsaw puzzles (actually, I have assembled only one so far, but if I do get enough time, I want to try out a bunch more). I also love cartooning and painting (I am reasonably good at the former) and am a voracious reader. I like hiking too, but haven't had time to do any hiking recently.
