Rice University is well represented in the March issue of Proceedings of the IEEE Special Issue on Distributed Shared Memory Systems. Of the thirteen papers published in this issue, four are authored by members or former members of the Departments of Computer Science (CS) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).

The Proceedings of the IEEE publishes comprehensive, in-depth papers of long-range interest and broad significance. Each year, several issues are devoted to a single topic of special importance. All aspects of electrical and computer engineering and science are featured in the publication.

Papers in this issue by current or former members of the CS and ECE departments are:

Adve is on the ECE faculty, Cox is on the CS faculty, and Zwaenepoel is a faculty member in both departments.

Amza is a CS graduate student, and Rajamani and Lu are graduate students in the ECE department.

Dwarkadas is a former research scientist at Rice, now on the faculty at University of Rochester. Rajamony graduated in 1998 and is now working at IBM Austin Research Laboratory. Keleher is also a graduate of the computer science Ph.D. program. He is on the faculty at the University of Maryland College Park.

The IEEE is a not-for-profit association and has more than 330,000 members in 150 countries. The organization is a catalyst for technological innovation in technical areas such as computer engineering, biomedical technology, telecommunications, aerospace, and consumer electronics.
