Tam Vu, a junior in electrical and computer engineering, has received the 2014 LyondellBasell Scholarship.
“Tam is one of the top students in the ECE class of 2016 and is well deserving of this award,” said faculty advisor Dr. Joseph Cavallaro.
A Lovett College resident, Vu is on the President’s Honor Roll and over the summer conducted research in neuroengineering with Dr. Caleb Kemere. Vu advises new students to pursue their interests.
“Try a bunch of new classes and discover what you want to do,” he said. “When I came in I didn’t expect that I would do electrical engineering, but I took an intro class and found out that I really liked it. I took ELEC 241 with Dr. Johnson and I realized that I enjoyed that class more than all my others.”
Vu will receive $2,500 from LyondellBasell to apply to his studies. He plans to pursue a career in industry upon graduating in 2016.
