Michael Orchard received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from San Diego State University in 1980 and 1986, respectively. He received his M.A. andÂ PhDÂ degrees from Princeton University in 1988 and 1990, respectively.
Professor Orchard received the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award in 1993, the Army Research Office Young Investigator Award in 1996, and was recently elected IEEE Fellow for "contributions to the theory and development of image and video compression algorithms."
Professor Orchard is a member of the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Group and the Center for Multimedia Communication (CMC).
