Introduction

Last week we looked at circuits which helped to assure the first two conditions on our list of signal conditioning requirements. These circuits converted the signal to a voltage and amplified it to an appropriate level. The last two operations, control of bandwidth and minimization of noise, are concerned with the frequency content of signals and are typically performed by a class of systems called filters.

This week we will look at a number of circuits that can be used as filters. We will also develop some tools for studying the behavior of filters and for analyzing the systems into which we will place them.
