ELEC 243 Lab

Introduction

Although the material covered in the ELEC 243 lectures is rewarding in its own right, simply wallowing in the beauty of Kirchoff's laws and the Fourier transform is an intellectually incomplete experience. It would be like a painter who was an expert in optics and visual perception but never actually wielded a brush. The knowledge which you will acquire in ELEC 243 is meant to be used, and the ELEC 243 lab will give you an opportunity to practice using it.

If you would rather think of yourself as an explorer than an artist, then you could consider the ELEC 243 lab to be a voyage of discovery into uncharted jungle territory. For such an adventure you will need to be properly prepared. This means having such things as a good map, a fellow explorer (to relieve boredom and go for help if you get treed by a rhinoceros), and the proper tools and equipment. You already have the map (the lab manual that you are currently reading). Instructions on obtaining the other items are contained in the following sections.

However you choose to view your ELEC 243 lab experience, it begins in the second week of the semester, so you should make your preparations before then (i.e. right now).
