This week's exercise will have the same basic structure as last: do some work in the lab, layout a new board to explore a related area, then come back to the lab to build and test your board. The main difference will be that you're on your own for the design and layout of the board; there's no tutorial to follow.

For our theme we will return to PWM, but rather than using it as a means of addressing a deficiency of the MSP320F2012 (no builtin D/A converter), we will use it as an efficient means of driving high power loads.

Here are our specific goals:

• Explore using PWM with switched mode active devices to drive high power loads (DC motors) with high efficiency.
• Explore The H-bridge architecture as a means to get bipolar drive to a load from a single power supply.
• Refresh our knowledge of the behavior of DC motors for additional use down the road.
• Practice the PCB layout skills we learned last week.
