ELEC 432
Goals
In the previous two labs we have explored
direct digitization of RF signals
and the basic superheterodyne architecture.
Unfortunately, with the equipment and processing we've used so far,
we've only been able to listen to AM broadcast stations.
In order to expand our repertoire of signals and
modulation schemes
we will need
better hardware and a more powerful software framework.
This week we will utilize a commercial shortwave radio as an RF front end
and upgrade our Labview processing VI to form a flexible framework for
evaluating processing components.
More specifically, our goals are:
-
Extend the frequency range of signals we can receive (100 kHz to 30 MHz).
-
Increase the number of modulation schemes we can receive (to include
SSB, FSK, and FM).
-
Create a flexible framework for developing and testing new
processing modules.
