There will be no conventional exams or problem-set style homework assignments
in this course.
Instead, your grade will be based on a set of "Lab Exercises" and the
design documentation for your project,
acording to the following formula:
| Lab Exercises | 70%
|
| Design Documentation | 30%
|
Lab Exercises
Lab Exercises, as the name suggests, will focus on work done in the lab.
However, a typical exercise will include sections which develop the background
for the work in the lab, and which explore the consequences of the work
in a broader context.
For more information on the
format
of the lab exercises, see the page
What are They?
in the
Exercises
section.
There will be approximately
8
exercises during the course of the semester.
The two with the lowest grades will be discarded in determining the exercise
portion of your grade.
However, you must complete all
8
exercises
(or whatever the final number turns out to be).
Design Documentation
The ECE design sequence requires that you produce a number of documents and
presentations describing your design.
These will one of the components of your grade in ELEC 493 and 494.
The first three chapters of your Design Documentation Package
will also determine a portion of your grade in this
course. However, where 493 will
be looking at how well your plan adheres to good design practice,
for 432 the focus will be on the technical quality of your project
and your attention to technical details.
In other words, you will receive two grades on this
documentation,
one for 493 and one
for 432.
Due Dates
All assignments are due on Friday of the week indicated in the
schedule.
(The
revised Design Documentation
is due by the last day of finals.)
