ELEC 493/494
Design Review

Date:
During Finals period, first semester.
Purpose:
Describe the state of your design and defend the decisions made to achieve it. Outline your design to a group of technically qualified people. Justify design decisions you have made. Try to find possible problems before the design is finalized.
Audience:
Technical management, other engineers.
Length:
1 hour (20 minute presentation followed by questions)
Format:
The format for the design review will be similar to an oral exam for an advanced degree: you will make a brief but thorough presentation of your work and then be prepared to answer questions relating to any aspect of the work.
Content:
The presentation portion of the design review should summarize the current state of your design. You should assume that the audience is already somewhat familiar with your project, so focus on the key design issues rather than a detailed project description. Also, since your audience is composed of fellow engineers, don't be afraid to speak in technical rather than general terms.
