SURF 2023 applications will open in the Spring semester

Applications will open Monday, January 30th and close Sunday, February 26th

SURF

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships OURI, is a program for undergraduates from underrepresented backgrounds (including first-generation and low-income) who are interested in pursuing supervised research with a Rice faculty member over the summer. No prior research experience is required, and preference will be given to first- and second-year students without previous experience. Students from all disciplines are eligible to apply. Fellows will receive $3000 and are expected to work approximately 150 hours on their research project while also participating in professional development workshops and small-group advising sessions.

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry (OURI) is hosting a SURF mixer on February 7 from 4-5 p.m. in which students can interact with faculty and learn more about summer research. Faculty who want to be involved in mentorship and fostering inclusive academic environments are encouraged to take on an undergraduate student or students in a research project this summer. The faculty registration form is due by January 31.
